Clinical Ethics

MedHEU's Medicine and Ethics arm (Clinical Ethics) oversees the initiatives and programmes that are contemporary and current to the ethical needs and the arising complexes of ethical dilemmas in healthcare. MedHEU aims to create awareness and strengthen the core of ethics clinically through workshops, programmes and collaborative efforts. Among the many programmes that have been brought about through this establishment includes:

Clinical Ethics Workshop Series is a carefully thought series of workshops have been planned to be conducted throughout the year of 2022, targeted to students, healthcare professionals, legal professions, social workers, and the public.

  • Objective:

To enable healthcare professionals to make informed and actionable decisions and facilitate their preparedness to manage ethical dilemmas in clinical practice.

  • Overview:

Clinical ethics is a practical discipline that provides a structured approach to assist medical students and healthcare practitioners in identifying, analyzing and resolving ethical dilemmas that arise in their daily medical training and practice. This workshop can promote ethically sound practices and decision-making, thereby contributing to health organization and system quality improvement.

The Clinical Ethics Grand Rounds Series is a CME (Continuing Medical Education) activity that offers its attendees a wide variety of clinical ethics topics from a diverse group of speakers to not only help keep up with the current / latest advances in medicine, but also to assist with everyday clinical ethics dilemmas that healthcare professionals face. It helps by providing a forum for teaching participants to resolve cases based on the best ethical practices. All those interested (e.g., physicians, clinicians, biomedical researchers, nurses, ethicists, philosophers, other healthcare professionals including students) are welcomed to attend.

It will take place on the last Thursday of every month from 1.00pm - 2.00pm through a virtual platform.

We are inviting all clinical experts from UMMC interested in presenting a case(s) in our next Clinical Ethics Grand Rounds Series to get in touch with us by emailing us at medheu@um.edu.my
